An investigation is under way into vandalism at Native American burial grounds at Kincaid Mounds State Historic Site, near the Ohio River east of Brookport.

Patrick "Pat" Souders, age 62, of Brookport passed away at 8:40 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

While many SIU students go home for summer, a group of anthropology students prepare for a hands-on class that features the digging of land where a large group of Native Americans once lived.

He was a retired truck driver and heavy-equipment operator. He was a member of Single Tree Pentecostal Church in Brookport, Ill.
