Investigation into Alleged Beaten Mental Patient

That is not the first case of abuse at that house; there are other unreported incidents in which the consumers have been physically as well as verbally abused by the staff. The managers are aware of the cases and they continue to cover things up because of on - going intimate relationships between the senior staff and the direct care staff. A further investigation of this house should be done to ensure the safety of the remaining consumers in that house. There was also a recent passing of a residence in that house that seems suspicious. I am glad that a family has finally come forward because; the treatment of these individuals by certain staff members is horrific.

The beating of mental patients is just plain nuts.

this is a bad one sided story!!dealing with nut cases! anything can happen at any time!! thats why they are nut cases!!they can become dangerous at any time attacking the workers/staff and chances are that what happened!a hard take down to the floor could of caused him the injurys,no information has been given out because of the hippa laws !! and that family looks like a lawsuit waiting to happen!!maybe that big mouth family member should get a job working with some of these wackos and find out just how dangerous it is!!

I dislike 'politically correct' terminology - "mentally challenged" in my day meant was called "crazier than a shithouse rat" or "fuggin' nuts".

Many people have a disgusting view of persons with mental and physical limitations however, that does not give anyone the right to abuse of mistreat them. In this case, according to reports and photos the abuse is evident and the person(s) responsible should face the consequences. Many of these postings are insensitive and people should think of the case like this; If it was your love one and they could not defend themselves and they had a mental or physical disablitiy is it ok for them to be abused?

how the hell would you know if anybody abused this nut job??? for all you know the wacko went nuts and tryed to slam his face into a wall!!belive me these nuts! do this all the time!why do they try and injury themselfs? who knows! they are nuts to start with!!you are dealing with insane nuts and some are killers till you have worked in these places you have no clue as to what you are talking about!!

4 to 6 squirrels (discard rib cage)
1⁄2 cup ketchup
1⁄2 cup Worcestershire sauce
1⁄2 cup butter

1 large green bell pepper, diced
1 onion, diced
1 clove garlic, diced

In large saucepan, combine ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, butter, tomato juice, water, apple cider vinegar, bell pepper, onion, garlic, salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Bring to a boil. Pour over meat. Bake at 350ºF for 2 to 3 hours or until fork tender. If liquid does not cover meat, add water. When liquid evaporates, meat will brown on top and the sauce will thicken. Turn each piece and bake for 15 to 20 minutes on other side to brown. Serve with fried potatoes, baked beans and hot biscuits.

According to your comment you sound very ingnorant, in any case no matter what limitation a person has it does not give anyone the right to abuse or mistreat them. In addition, from the photographs its obvious that this individual was punched in the eye. The person (s) responsible for this should face the consequnces and the people responsible for the cover - up should be fired for using their authority to protect the person(s) responsible for the abuse instead of protecting the individaul injured.

You also sound very angry and may need some help yourself, especially if you think that this individual deserved that treatment. You do not know if the individual did anything, if he can walk, talk, or defend himself. Having a mental and physical disability means that he does not have the mental capacity to think on the same level as the person (s) that assualted him therefore, no matter what the individual action or behavior was there is no excuse for that type of treatment. And the person(s) that did this assualt are suppose to trained professional that know how to deal with these types of individuals!

how do you know that he was punch??you are guessing at best!! that swollen eye injury could of been a self injury!! you dont have a clue as to what the hell happened!!and you have no facts!!there could be many reasons as to what happened!! like i said! working in the nut wards these nut cases might do anything to cause harm i have seen it many times!! and stupid fools like you dont no anything about psych patients,and we dont know just how dangerous this nut was! or what type of psych meds he was on!! till you have worked in these places YOU dont have a clue! and it might not be a bad thing for yourself to get a psych eval! because it sounds like you need one!!!

No matter what you say these so called professionals working in that establishment are supposed to be trained on how to deal with out of control individuals. You are commenting on the case as if you were there and witness the incident. Were you the person who punched this physically handicapped individual did you see the photos can't you see that he is a victim he is in a wheelchair, how much damage can he do to himself, even if he fell out of the chair or ran into a wall his eye would not be the only thing swollen, why is it that the injury is local rather than general? Why don't you run into a wall or fall out of a chair and see what type of injuries you get? I do not think it would be a swollen shut eye!

You seem to be highly intelligent but I will answer your question anyway. If a person falls from a wheelchair most likley they will sustain a head injury, injury to thier arms and legs, or injury to their turnk area. In this case its obvious that the point of injury is local and not all over the body, it's also clear from the pictures that the individual does not have any brusing on his forehead or the lateral areas of his face, however he does have a swollen eye now you tell me a fall from a wheelchair did that genius, use some common sense and admit that this individual was assualted and someone should be held accountable. You must also keep in mind that if a person falls from a wheelchair they will have protective wounds on their arms and hands not a black eye. Also keep in mind that if this person is mentally and physically disabled they may not have the cognitive ability or processing skills to react to a punch and use their arms to protect their face like a typical individual. And as far as my medical background believe that I am a state certified and licensed professional that's why its clear that this is a case of physical abuse on a person with mental and physical limitations.
