Locals say the water in the Chetco River is higher than it's been in 20 years and is flooding into homes.

Heavy rains are causing flooding in urban areas of Curry County, and river flows are expected to rise throughout the day as a new storm front with stiff winds pounds the Oregon coast.

Two state troopers and a neighbor with a boat braved the rapidly rising Chetco River to rescue an elderly couple who were stranded in their home Thursday.
