Several fireworks stands across Bourbon County are competing for consumer dollars this week as the Fourth of July holiday approaches.

Incoming University of Kansas students and their parents from Allen, Bourbon and Woodson counties will be welcomed into the KU family at the Jayhawk Generations Welcome Picnic at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, in Fort Scott.
