A man awaiting trial on a charge of raping a girl under the age of 13 was found dead of an apparent suicide in his Jefferson County jail cell early this morning, said county Sheriff Fred Abdalla.

She was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Brilliant, Ohio, the daughter of Charles Oscar and Anna Pflugh Jenkins.
