An 85-year-old Bridger woman is dead and five others were injured in a two-vehicle crash near Bridger in Carbon County Sunday afternoon.

A head-on collision south of Laurel sends two Bridger men to the hospital. The crash happened on Highway 310 at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

It happened at about 5:00 p.m. between the towns of Edgar and Fromberg. The Montana Highway Patrol trooper on scene said a 21-year-old Bridger man was driving southbound on U.S. Highway 310 when he drifted into the northbound lane and collided with a semi truck.

BILLINGS - State regulators say a Billings coal company has paid a $15,000 penalty for starting coal prospecting work on a proposed mine near Bridger more than a year before obtaining the necessary permits.
