Commissioners received a proposal from Exxon subsidiary XTO Energy Inc. for leasing county-owned land to drill for oil and natural gas.

The News-Register of Wheeling, W.Va., reported Thursday that Shell has been considering a site between Bridgeport and Powhatan Point in Ohio, across the river from essentially Wheeling and Moundsville, W.Va., in the Northern Panhandle.
