Mason County Eastern picked up a split in a Western Michigan D League doubleheader against Brethren Monday, winning the first game 6-4, and losing the second game, 5-4. The Cardinals nearly got the doubleheader sweep of Brethren, but the Bobcats overcame a 4-1 deficit to force the split.

A 51-year-old Brethren man was arrested Tuesday night after leading police on a high-speed chase on Maple Road before he lost control of his car, which left the road and hit a tree while he was trying to turn east on County Line Road along the border with Mason County.
