Bradshaw Cops- How can they be better

A Proud American said in the Bradshaw Forum:

ON a different thread, people are talking about who the best town cop is, but as I sat at work last night I started to think more about this topic. I know we have had a lot of ‘good cops’ but we need to be thinking and talking about what the cops we have could do to be better. I am not saying this in a negative way, Eric is my cousin so its not as if I am out for blood or any thing like that but no one is perfect and that includes cops. Bradshaw is a small town, and most everyone knows everyone else. That could be a good thing or it could be one of the problems, everyone knows who is doing what. If someone is selling, using, or breaking in on others everyone knows and that includes the cops. I love Bradshaw and see many people talking down about the cops in town, so my question is what you would suggest to better improve the efficiency of the cops. I am NOT doing this to start a witch hunt, as I said I love the town, and its people but since so many people are posting things about the cops in a negative way, I thought would be a good idea to give people a chance to give their suggestions.

The recent upswing in coal mining activity across southern West Virginia is also helping to generate new tax revenue for local coal-producing counties and municipalities.

Taking a stand against drug dealers

Bradshaw Cit said in the Bradshaw Forum:

Ok the biggest problem we have in our area is two fold. First, we have drug pushers, who are the lifeline of the drug users, without the pusher the user would be cut off. Secondly, we have those who are pretending to be disabled, and the whole time being able bodied enough to work, they do this and use their money to get liquor and drugs. Now as it has been said in another thread we need to stand together and take our town (area) back, and that means taking these drug dealers down HARD. That does not mean sitting at home doing nothing and wishing that someone else would, or sitting on our asses while the judges and prosecutors let these people go with an insignificant punishment and no TV for a week. We need to get out there and start demanding that the legal system do their jobs and put these people away. If they cannot or refuse to then we can go to the media and have them exposed as leeches that are not doing their jobs and yet getting fat on the tax dollars we all pay in. We need to all grab a note book, pen, and if possible a camera and take down all the info we can when we see someone doing a drug buy, selling their food stamps to get beer. If you see someone go into the Welch office of the SSA with a neck brace and cane and the same day walking or running the streets without it, then use the info to make sure these people are stopped, cold. I applaud those who have already started on this project to take back our town, so far we have people like Lighthouse, Kevin’s mom, Shawn’s Mom, and a few others. Lets get this going guys and together we can make a HUGE difference, I am sure no one wants to sit on their ass and do nothing then see one of our family or friends die again. I dont care who it is if its family, friends, or who ever REPORT THEM.

Rural W.Va. bank lost big on loans

Friday, March 07, 2008 PALM BEACH GARDENS — Back in 2003, when South Florida's economy was booming, officials at a small West Virginia bank deep in the heart of economically ravaged coal-mining country looked south and saw an opportunity for growth that was missing at home.
That's how Ameribank, an eight-branch savings and loan with locations in rural West Virginia and Ohio, came to open its ninth branch that year on Military Trail in Palm Beach Gardens.

The next year, the bank affiliated itself with a Boca Raton mortgage broker called Lending One, which was selling thousands of no-money-down one-year home mortgage and renovation loans designed for speculators who wanted to buy fixer-uppers and flip them for sale at a higher price.

Borrowers paid Lending One a high interest rate - 15 percent, plus three to five points at closing.

Bradshaw Cit speaks with mayor

Bradshaw cit said in the Bradshaw Forum:

I have just hung up with the Mayor of Bradshaw, and I am happy to say that he was very receptive and all to willing to work with the people and get things done. I ran some of the ideas that I had past him and he seems all too eager to work with us. In fact, he has made me aware of some ideas he has in mind, they go hand in hand with the ideas I have had myself. The mayor and I both agreed that if we have enough people that will work with the town then we would see a difference. He has started already working n some of the finer points, and so have. Let me clear a few things up, When I came here that first night and posted the topic Bradshaw Misappropriation of funds I did not intend it to be a flame fest, or to seem like I was saying that the mayor was swindling the town or state. If that is what people took from what I said then they misunderstood what I was saying, maybe I could have chosen a better name for the thread but I did not, that was my bad. The mayor was very willing to work with us, and meet with us to discuss ideas, and get things started. So in short, the ball is rolling now, and the people who read this can choose to both be part of the solution and help us all make this town a better place or you can choose to be part of the problem and do nothing.
