Teacher reinvents a common tool, gives the old ruler some new twists
“My biggest commitment is finding a way to make a change in education”
Laura Eras, a teacher in a two-room schoolhouse in southern Monterey County, hopes a ruler she's patented can change the way kids around the county learn measurement and math.
Eras, who lives in Paso Robles with her husband and two children, is the inventor of the Kidsruler and is making and selling the rulers as a startup business based from her North County home.
The idea came to her while she was seeking an innovative lesson to impress a teaching coach who was visiting Bradley, where she has worked for 11 years teaching kindergarten and first-, second-and third-graders. Read more
