DeSoto County's two newest school board members will take office during a swearing-in ceremony at 4 p.m. Monday at school district headquarters in Hernando.

In addition to participating in a high-profile 1st District congressional race, DeSoto County voters today are electing three school board members and a constable as well as taking part in a couple of North Mississippi judicial races.

Candidates for local offices in Tuesday's general election have filed their final pre-election financial reports, offering a look at spending in races for school board, judicial and constable positions.

Some DeSoto County residents want to make sure the county's minority population doesn't get overlooked in redistricting that is certain to occur when new census figures come out.
