Fate of Cabrillo College parolee Colter White decided today

Full story: Santa Cruz Sentinel

Today is Colter White's day in court. White, a Cabrillo College honor student and ex-con, will have a closed-door hearing to determine if his parole should be revoked based on the statement of one man he had problems with at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting.

He's Special, and just a tad above the law. Mr. Keeley is a law breaker himself when it comes to the running of the Tax Collector's Office. Think I would pass on his support.

I agree - we are with you in spirit Colter. No matter what happens, never forget how many in the community supported you, and believe in you. Good luck!

White spent much of his teenage and adult life in trouble with the law, mostly for fighting and assaults, but decided to make a change about five years ago. He was in prison at the time.
You don't hear about people being sent to prison too often for fighting. The Sentinel has deliberately and consistently avoided reporting the actual crimes Colter has been convicted of, the nature of his prison confinement, his association with Aryan gangs, and especially if he was sent to Pelican Bay, as some have claimed. In doing so they have deliberately denied their readers the context that will necessarily be part of any decision made about Colter.

"respect White has earned at Cabrillo, as well as his reputation within Narcotics Anonymous and the wider community"

Colter has a lot of support, but he sure doesn't have the respect of many people I know.

He's got a temper and people need to let him take responsibility for his actions. Even if this acusation was false, this is not the only time he has been violent recently, and I fear it will not be the last.

Colter's parole hearing was today. The parole board agreed that he should be released.

Welcome back, Colt!

Of course you see no comments by the District Attorney's Office or State Parole for what is truly going on behind the scenes.....here's a few facts, trust me.....white admits to being in a disagreement with this guy, then sees much later on a different day riding his bike along somewhere else and claims to try to stop to talk to him to work out their differences. The victim says to him to leave him alone and tries to flee. White lets him go and that is it. This is White's own statement for what happens. The guy claims everything the same, except for White spots him riding on the bike and pulls over to confront him. He grabs his bike and threatens him, as well as grabbing onto him, technically a battery, before the victim can break loose and flee. Now the victim is scared shitless of this Aryan Brotherhood and therefore without a victim's participation, the District Attorney's Office can't prosecute. Those are the facts!! Do you see the wrong in what White did, no matter whose version is correct? He shouldn't be trying to stop his vehicle and "work it out" with this guy for many reasons! That is, for you people who are drumming support for him, are the facts and your plain stupid to believe he did nothing wrong...

Colter White...I wouldn't have allowed you, a man with a history of hate and violence, to leave prison for 5 minutes.

Exactly what has he done to earn my respect as a Cabrillo student?

Colter, if you read this...take a look at all of these people championing your cause. The Sentinel has written multiple stories praising your hard work and turn-around. Do not F U C K IT UP!

How did this punk even garner the support he had? This whole thing has been a total non-story.

Punk **** parolee is too stupid to control his own anger. He gets punked by someone, reacts negatively, and now expects leniency? Forget it, theyve got a place for loose cannons like him, it's called prison.
They've got a place for 40yr old guys who date 17yr old girls! Let's get it straight: the victim is the loose cannon!

It would be interesting to know what Colter was in prison for, and where. Why wouldn't the Sentinel publish that?

How old is the person who claims Colter threatened him? Which of the two is larger? If we are talking about 40 year, 200 lb. old Colter threatening 17 year old 150 pounder ...

Where is the Sentinel? Do they do real reporting, or just take the easy way out?

Many of the individuals determined to condemn Colter do not know him. Yeah, he did some stupid violent things in his youth and paid with years of his life. While on parole, he had a disagreement with a guy with a grudge; the DA had no interest; the parole board had no choice but to take an interest.

To “turn one’s life around” is not an empty cliché. It is a herculean accomplishment. Colter did it, and his supporters watched it unfold. He distanced himself from criminal ideas and influences to become a role model to other parolees dealing with sobriety and educational barriers. His supporters come in a rainbow of ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, professional & educational backgrounds. But I don’t recall seeing any Aryan Brothers at the Free Colter rallies.
