Church Zoning Lawsuit Proceeds Vs. Boulder Co.

A zoning fight between Boulder County and a rapidly expanding church has turned into a battle billed as an important test of a federal law meant to protect churches against discrimination.

U. S. District Judge Robert Blackburn on Tuesday ruled the lawsuit filed by Rocky Mountain Christian Church can proceed, rejecting the county's request that it be dismissed. The matter is now set for a trial on Nov. 3.

- A chunk of Antarctic ice suddenly collapsed, putting an even greater portion of glacial ice at risk, scientists said last Tuesday.

Satellite images show the runaway disintegration of a 414-square-kilometre chunk in western Antarctica, which started Feb. 28. It was the edge of the Wilkins ice shelf and has been there for hundreds, maybe 1,500 years.
