Why should I have to spend money for you. I and my friends know where I'm at and the old numbers were good for years. why don't you teach the drivers where every one lives. the police well the old ones were here 18 years ago to check my car title when you made that stupid law to and know you want more money for a new one when I lost it. I signed up for a new program but the visiting nurse never came and the meals on wheels was cold cause he was late and his 4x4 couldn't make the driveway in june. the chicken coop burnt down and the fire dept. never came and said the phone no. listing was old and wrong. My family has live here for 250 years and never had these problems that you started. every one knows that this shed{[house]no need to bring on the listers} post box 543 is mine down at millie's store. the welfare check great grandmother makes it here and has for a 100 years. I got a picture hereof her , well thats her ashes before it got kicked over.

"flatlander",
i'm not sure what your point is, if you have one, but i'd like to be sure the fire department and rescue squad can find me if needed. i don't know if my house number is "to specification" but its both decorative and readable, and three 4 inch brass numbers and a wooden plaque only cost me a few bucks, nothing to fuss about. |

Flatlander I don't know why you consider it paying money for "them". But if you want to take the chance that rescue providers are delayed getting to you in a time of crises because you didn't want to mark your home and it took extra time to find you, I guess that's your prerogative.

The key word in the whole article is Volunteer. Why would anyone not help UNPAID Rescue Squad Members (who risk their lives for you)in such a small way. As noted above it's not much money to help them to help you.

how many times do they ask you to help yourself out yet the plea goes on deaf ears. every body in my town knows where I live except the police, fire rescue, mail carrier and the lister. this way I hardly get any bills.

I was golfing the other day and my partner had one of those I-phones with an app that listed his exact spot on the course, yards to the flag, elevation etc. Because of GPS there is no longer need for address markings on homes. In fact, you should now sue any police, rescue or fire company that cannot locate your home regardless of address markings as all should now carry a GPS device. Perhaps there should even begin a statewide campaign to require them and to also allow the removal of home address markings as a violation of personal privacy. Street number address markings are a useless relic today.

I don't know about your town, but my hometown police department isn't even allowed to buy a water cooler, much less a GPS device. |

I'm dyslexic so if you see 919 on my mailbox, know I really mean 919, k?

well what if you come the other way does it look the same. I had to move to a dead end street because my house was on the wrong side if I came the other way and always late getting home and low on gas

Emergency vehicles should approach your house backwards so numbers will be right-reading in the rear view mirror. |
