Ridgeland truck crash kills 19-year-old driver

A 19-year-old Blythewood man was killed late Friday night when he lost control of the truck he was driving, drove off the road and struck a tree on S.C. 462 in Ridgeland , Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls III said Saturday.

This young man did not deserve to end his life so short, but he fell victim to a not-so-uncommon condition known as sleep driving. He was so tired from working, he fell asleep at the wheel. There was no drugs, there was no alcohol. Only gatorade, and water.
