Incarcerated vets donate to injured troops
BLYTHE - During a ceremony held at Ironwood State Prison, the Veterans Group Ironwood (VGI), presented a check in the amount of $5,000 to the Florida-based Independence Fund on Oct. 13. Over this past summer the VGI had previously donated $1,500 to the "Indy Fund."

Blythe Appleby's October Teacher of the Month
BLYTHE - Appleby Elementary's Teacher of the Month for October is first grade teacher Vicky Alexander.
Alexander grew up in the small town of Loveland Colo, the youngest of 11 children.
Her parents came through Ellis Island in the early 1900s and they knew the importance of education.

BLYTHE - Blythe police officers arrested Carlos Armando Garcia, 35, of Blythe, for possession of stolen property and drug paraphernalia on Oct. 13.

Blythe Police shut down south side burglary ring
Local gang, Goon squad said to be behind thefts
BLYTHE - After months of investigation, Blythe Police Officers were able to arrest nine people in connection with the burglaries that occurred between June 28-Sept. 29 on the south side area of Blythe.
Charles Richardson, 29, Steven Gregory Williams, 47, Jeffrey Rockmore, 41, Frank Watkins 24, Cedric Brookins, 18, and four juveniles, all of Blythe, were arrested in a joint effort by local law enforcement seeking an end to the months of homes being burglarized.

Blythe Police warn of nearby sex offenders
BLYTHE - The Blythe Police Department is informing the public of two sex offenders, Brian Dale Cowan and Gordon Leroy Berry, that reside in the area of Blythe.
Cowan, 51, is a recent relocation from Wisconsin.
He was born June 6, 1958 and is currently residing at 2355 McKinley in Blythe.

82 golfers turn out for Dobbs Duffers Fore Children
BLYTHE - Dobbs Duffers for Children Charity Golf Tournament was a huge success with 82 golfers attending and supported the event.
The winner of the putting contest and a recliner by Ashley was George McGregor. Mark Mallett won a 32" television for being closest to the pin.
The first place team was Bryan Wuerker, Bert Figueroa, Rick Osife, John Mulkey and Nathan Rudolph.

Juvenile arrested for burglary
BLYTHE - Blythe Police arrested a 17-year-old male juvenile for burglary on Oct. 16.
Officer Servando Iniguez responded to the 100 block of Shaded Palm after receiving a call of a burglary late Friday night. The resident who made the call told police she had been burglarized and a weapon was missing.
