Since the Jan. 28 "Kickoff" meeting, several area youth have been attending "Help Meetings" as part of the curriculum designed to help students prepare a business plan for entry into the Achievement Planner: Top Business Plan Contest sponsored by MORF Consulting of Blue Mound, Kan.

Francis Deas Barbour Jr., 70, Paola, died July 30, 2011, at Kansas City Hospice House after a very brief battle with brain cancer.

Vivian Maxine Carlton, 78, died July 22, 2011, at Good Samaritan Society in Olathe.

Nellie Ione Newman, 91, Paola, formerly of Blue Mound, died July 3, 2011, at the Life Care Center in Osawatomie.
