Blue Lake Power gets ready for boiler testing
The Blue Lake Power plant is expected to undergo preliminary tests of its boiler by mid-month in preparation for firing up around the end of the year.

Wood burning is carbon neutral and generates green credits for sale to polluters. Cap and trade will only accelerate the building of wood burning plants.

Wood burning powerplants are considered renewable energy by the government. Since an increasing portion of power generation is mandated to be "renewable", power companies are willing to pay to bring these old plants on line to meet the deadlines set by these zealots. I feel cleaner already, its like mother bleeping earth is taking a shower and all thanks to our environ-mental friends.

wood chip burning power plants also help make rehabilitation forestry profitable and allows cutting invasive tan oak stands that have dominated some areas after harvest prior to forest practice rules. Also uses waste from saw mills, ie less waste.
carbon is trapped as soot in process and "smoke" is mainly steam generated and released in process. Carbon soot/ash is used to amend soils locally for grazing and hay productions for local dairy. win, win |

You sir are an idiot. Glad to see that the others who posted had intelligent and knowledgeable comments. There are two other biomass power plants in the county that produce renewable energy for the area and lower the use of fossil fuels. They are not permitted to burn chemically treated wood. Biomass power plants were 'green' long before it became fashionable. |

This is all fine and dandy... I dont recall hearing that Fairhaven power is in operation anymore, I am assuming that it is due to a lack of raw material (fuel) What will make procuring an adequate supply of fuel any easier for Blue Lake?
I am glad that the environmentalist are recognizing this as a green energy source... but did they have to kill the lumber business before hand? |

Take a drive out toward the jetty and you'll see that the Fairhaven power plant is running and has quite a pile of fuel and logs. It looks like they have been real aggressive in getting fuel. |

Im glad to hear that Mel Mclean has one legacy that wasnt bulldozed over. I only hope that the industry can support 2 power plants
