Cut bums and addicts off of welfare, not health care for children. Where are priorities? Giving a bum who has the ability to work but chooses to beg on the streets with a cardbord sign a welfare check, or cut health care services to children? I simply do not understand. LET THE BUMS GO TO WORK!!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH~~~

It's better that people like that just die.

The drug companies enrich themselves on exploiting what we believe to be compassion.

Just let the weak ones die.

Continuously running stories of how important these programs are is nice but it doesn't help. How about using the papers resources to ferret out ways to save Ca the money it needs to operate these programs. Let's kill off the board and Commission system at the state level. How about making each department head justify in writing every employee.

Can anyone explain how a pre-existing condition is tantamount to refusal for insurance coverage? Is it because you're a bat bet to the for-profit insurance "insudustry"? The whole concept of "insurance" for healthcare is a ridiculous notion in the first place.

I have yet to understand why a private, not for profit "health bank" has not been yet formed where monies by participants is "bank", literally where administrative fees amount to less than 10 percent of the revenues secured thsough the power of monies pooled to "ensure" each individual's access to the health care they may need.

Oh and one more thing, the over-diagnosis of attention deficit and hyperactivity "disorder" is merely another bull sheet diagnosis for corporate pharmeceuticals to garner a bigger piece of the health insurance "industry". ADHD is generally the sign of a bright child bored with the level of academic challenges in public schools.

Blind, abject greed. Insurance companies are in the business of reporting profits to shareholders, not in the business of insuring anyone's health.

I wonder how many of these adhd kids just happen to be children of teachers...hmmmm...a little suspicious.
And why in the world does the kid know how much his medication is? Nice parenting there.
"Do you know how much your pills cost" she says everytime he gets on her nerves..

Srsly, ADHD? When people with REAL problems are going without care?
So mom has health insurance, has a job, and still we are paying for her kids drugs?
So he can PAY ATTENTION??????????

Lord please help us

Yes! I totally agree Domino21.

Additionally, I know plenty of kids who have parents that drug them for ADHD when they don't really have to be drugged. It is epidemic. Your kid acts like a kid and some doctor says ADHD and drugs that child. A friend of mine has been fighting with his exwife for years about her drugging their daughter needlessly using the "excuse" of ADHD.

T-S - there is not one story that you could write that would make me change my mind about supporting the cuts in overspending in this state. I am not responsible for somebody else. This woman and her husband should change jobs and provide for thier family and not expect the rest of us to do so.

First, I just want to acknowledge the atrocious commentary present here. Shame on TS for facilitating such hate.

Second, ADHD is best treated by changes in diest and environment, NOT by giving children powerful amphetamines. Nobody knows how or why it works to get inattentive kids uppers, but even more alarming is NONBDY has done research on the long-term effects of such ridiculous methodology.

AS a parent who struggled for years about whether or not to medicate my child for ADD and depression I wished I had done it sooner. Not only did his academics suffer but he was socially stigmatized by kids at school. He still has a difficult time functioning at what is perceived a normal level and without his medication now his choice he is the odd or wierdo person no one wants around.
