You drink you drive you lose... so goes the ad. I must disagree that you can't make a blanket policy for "off duty" incidents involving city employees. In this case the firefighter did the right thing. Good for him.
A blanket policy, applied to ALL city employees from the Mayor on down would prevent all perceptions of favoritism. No ones "right" to go out and party is being denied. Just requires a minute of planning to make sure you have a ride home. Call your city councilor. |

What the "F", just one comment! Where are ALL YOU DWI bashers?! Just because he is not of Indian blood. Too humiliated? I feel sorry for all you ignorant bigots!

I completely agree with the first post!

Excellent news! Now we don't have to worry about any more wasted taxpayer money.

SJC Liberal has a good point! I dont usually agree, but this one is right-on. Jason, Mary, are you listening??

At 8:30 in the morning you're already on a "hate the white man" rampage and can't even digest your breakfast before spewing out racist comments. I feel sorry for YOU. |

"Brown does not think there is a drinking problem at the department."
Wow...that's interesting! "In response, the fire department has added trainings and is bringing in a consultant to speak specifically about alcohol issues at fire departments." Wow...keep on spending that money!!!! Why do you need to hire consultants and add more trainings? Even if they didn't have one day of training, haven't they seen enough from on-the-job experience? I'm assuming you already have "good" training ~ why do you think more training will work? How about this? You get a DWI on OR off duty and you immediately LOSE YOUR JOB!!!! Then there will be absolutely no question what will happen!!! Train them on that! And, if you kill someone drinking and driving you absolutely spend the REST OF YOUR LIFE, in jail. No matter what a nice guy you are! No matter how good at your job you are! I wonder if that would cut down these occurances?! |
||||
Sheesh....slap your ignorant mouth! |
||||
I know how to starve you. Hide your foodstamps under your workboots. Idiot! |
||||
When and if he is found not guilty he can reapply with the FD. Josh Calder has recently reapplied and was accepted by the FPD. News Flash said it was only an application, a short interview, and so-called background check. |

Another one bites the dust....or three!! Shame on them. Off duty or not they should all be punished for their actions. Jail time and counceling, no... 28 days treatment and be billed according to their salaries like everyone else. I heard the programs can get pretty expensive.

Chief Brown has his own skeletons to keep hidden. This guy resinged the chief takes a deep breath of relief because he won't have to act! Moffitt and Martin are in the clear because they ONLY had a misdameanor and since there is no clear cut policy the chief can skate again.

FARMINGTON — Farmington firefighter Thomas Meuir resigned Tuesday in response to his arrest for DWI, Farmington fire officials said.
The department was investigating the incident and based upon the aggravating circumstances, termination likely was to be pursued, said Farmington Fire Chief Troy Brown. I don't get it they're investigating this one? Does that mean they didn't the other two? I think one that had the gun and was a .15 definitely has grounds for termination. When you are drunk some people do not act rationally. What if he decided to road rage or worse become agressive with cop. |

You guys have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You have no idea how this has affected his life. I agree that there is no drinking problem at the FD. You have no idea what these men go through on a daily base. And you have no right to judge them in the way that you do. This man did not deserve to lose the job, the life, he worked so hard to build, because he made a mistake. First offense, people. Its not his 8th. I always wondered why the people who even reach their 3rd dwi are not posted in the paper. Its because you all go after the good guys! He didnt harm anyone and he wasnt headed that way. Hope you are all happy!
You all can go out and celebrate because a good man had to resign from his job. Go and celebrate his pain and regret. Every single one of you disgust me and many more. Grow up and get a life. |
||||
all of meuirs were misdameanors! and you have no idea what goes on with the fre department, so dont act like you do |
||||
"racist comments"??? dont know which side of the bed you woke up on. I'm just saying, if it was an Indian all the bigots will be commenting on this like flies on you know what! |
||||
Oh no you don't! I know where you are trying to go with this, so I will set the record straight for you. First and foremost, he did not attempt to take the arresting officers' baton. Second... he was not beating his significant other in front of his children (with others around). Third....I will bet money on it his family does not make any attempt whatsoever to sue the city. Evidently, this guy knew he "screwed" up when he chose to resign. Let's not go where you were headed. |
||||
Maybe this guy gets up at 5am and works early, unlike you, lazy turd sleeping in. ha ha |
||||
It sure looks like they do. And, that's because of them! He should have thought about how that would affect his life; before, he made HIS OWN DECISION to drive drunk...very drunk! We don't care anymore, what they go through on a daily basis. It's still against the law to drink and drive...as well as, STUPID for someone with his job. Yes, in fact, he absolutely deserves to lose his job and HE SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT HOW HARD HE WORKED TO GET IT BEFORE he chose to drink and drive. Every bit of it is HIS FAULT!!! I am beginning to think you might be a kid. So, I will ease up a bit....He is SO DANG LUCKY he didn't hurt anyone!!! And, he has harmed himself in a mighty way. Of course, we are not happy!!! NO ONE will be celebrating! This is a terrible thing and I feel very, very sorry for him. And, we are equally disgusted with drinking and driving. Young man, you have made a huge error in judgement. You can overcome this and I encourage you to do so. Many have done this exact thing and chose to change their lifestyle and have been successful! I will be praying for you! |
||||
Ya know...most of the people on here are probably sick of the subject. Maybe the ffd can beat us all down with one dwi after another and we'll just stop caring. Maybe that's their plan ~ so, they drink away the troubles from their daily job experiences. whatever I posted cause I'm bored. |
