Unofficial and unenforceable rules of blogosphere consider it bad manners to leave your caps lock key on. It makes your words hard to read. If someone says "stop shouting" -- it is another way of asking you to please use both upper and lower case letters. Thanx.

I was taught this when I was an online newbie.

This year many Americans learned much about civics which we had not been taught in school. Political parties make their own rules. Parties are actually "private" clubs. Citizens may join, but not being a member does NOT prevent your right to vote. Simply pick another party.

Florida Republican rules also cut delegate votes in half for breaking party rules holding a primary too early.

I voted Jan. 29 knowing that it was a non-sanctioned primary and our Florida votes would most likely would be thrown out.

NONE of this is an end to democracy as you claim. The meeting May 31, 2008, was a Democratic Party rules committee --- not a convention.

The convention is in August and the election which counts is this November.

This is neither a race war nor a battle of the sexes. Take a deep breath and get to work registering voters to support your preferred candidate.

The coolest thing about democracy is that we settle our disagreements with ballots rather than bullets. Maybe by the next voting season you will volunteer to be a poll watcher or even run for office yourself.

I'm just glad to see so many Americans finally getting involved in doing their job as citizens. If you do not like your party rules -- work hard to get involveed in writing and voting for better rules for next season. It is our country -- and our job to help run it.

Welcome to citizenship 101.

Look Beyond Being White
Submitted by Mark Rosenkranz on June 2, 2008 - 2:18pm. Politics (Author Of White Male Privilege)
Some people are being slapped in the face and they don't even know it. It is not just about being black or white. It is also about economics and social stratification. Like Tim Wise said, "divide and conquer." "We were taught to be white." The concept of whiteness didn't exist until after America was discovered. In reality, "America" was taken from the American Indian people. Take a look at some of the videos Tim Wise can be seen on. Some of these videos have been put on Youtube. Tim, thank you for the insights you continue to provide.
