Stupid bike rider shouldn't be riding against traffic after dark. If you want to commit suicide, do it at home. It wastes my tax dollars to clean up the mess you leave behind.

Read the story and watch the video. This young man was not speeding and was doing everything correct. He was on his own side of the road and why was there a kid out on a bike at 11:30 at night? I am sure this young boy feels horrible and he is a good kid. Think before you speak!

11:30pm? Isn't there a curfew? Common sense here, unless your bike is specially equipped with lights for after dark riding, don't expect for vehicles to see you. I hope he is okay but recovers with a little more sense.

Tanner is one of the best kids bixby has ever had. He was going home! His curfew was 12 and he was early. Who rides their bike on major streets at 11:30 at night anyways? What kind of parent let's their kid do that?

You people are barking up the wrong tree if you want to say that Tanner has any fault in this. He's not out purposely playing pin ball with pedestrians or cyclists.
This IS the most polite and respectful 16yr old boy any of you will ever hear about and comes from a tremendously wonderful family.
I promise you his parents knew right where he was the entire time. He wasn't off sneaking around causing trouble.
I hope the bicyclist recovers fully, and in the future, chooses not to ride a bike in the middle of the road, in oncoming traffic at 11:30pm.

It doesn't need to be complicated. If its as cut and dry as the story reads and there was no malice involved the motorist is clearly not at fault. Cyclists should ride with traffic and if they ride after dark shuld do so with plenty of lights, but still be overcautious. I'm a cyclist and I know better than that.

tj is a good kid and im sure his parants new where he was going. i know him and his parants very well.and y was a kid riding his bike at 11:30 at night if anything the cyclist was up to no good. and why was he going against the current? he should have had a flashlight or something to atleast show drivers where he was and give them a chance to avoid him before it was too late. from nick g...

If this had been a kid from Tulsa would it had been so "cut and dry"? I heard Bixby has a curfew of 11 just like Tulsa so why was either kid out that late?

While the law is that cyclists should ride with traffic, it wasn't always that way. 30 years ago, cops came to Walt Disney Elementary to teach us to ride against traffic so we could see oncoming cars.

I think bike lights (not just reflectors) should be mandatory, just as car lights are, after sunset.

However, a 16 year old shouldn't be driving a vehicle after dark (period)

tanner had NO fault!
he's a great kid and feels extremely guilty and he didnt even do anything wrong.
so you can stop with the whole "people need to slow down" because HE WASN'T EVEN SPEEDING.
my heart does go out to the family of the boy and the boy himself who was hit but come on dont blame it on tanner!

A kid on a bike is going to see the headlights of a truck well before the driver of a truck sees any reflective device or small flashlight on a bicycle. That stretch of road is EXTREMELY dark.

Curfew is not the root cause of this...it's dark at 10pm, well before the curfew begins. And it could just as easily been an adult who hit him at the same time. To me, it would have the same outcome no matter who was driving the vehicle, kid or adult.

We're behind you 100% Tanner!!!

That is a very pourly lit area and has no shoulder. I would not let my child ride a bike on that road in daylight, much less after dark. I hope he is ok. As far as the boy who hit him, it could have just as easily been another driver on that 50mph stretch of road. Age probably played a much less factor than lighting and road conditions.

I want TJ and his family to know that the Bixby Family is with them in thoughts and prayers. Prayers also for the young boy and hopefully a full recovery. I can't imagine and don't want to imagine how my 17 yr old son would react to something like this, so please remember that this young boy will have to live with this when you are making comments.

Bixby's curfew is 11 PM Sunday-Thursday, 12 on Friday and Saturday. But does it really matter? No. This was an accident pure and simple.

it only matters in that if the driver of the truck or the bike had not been out past curfew it wouldnt have happened.

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Aries

There is minor evil around today, whether it is harsh words or actions. Relationships with non spiritual people will tend to be abrasive, as you come to understand that such people can never be trusted, for their agenda is not love. Beware of criticism from colleagues or friends. Avoid being narrow minded and confining your views to the conventional. You may want to argue with everyone and everything, but beware of devouring your own energy in the process.
