I was born in the South -- Kingsport, Tenn., in fact. I grew up in a small town called Marion, Va., after moving from the even smaller town of Big Stone Gap.

So, here we are at the dawn of the summer season. Now, it's time to get out and enjoy the sights and sounds of the mountains.

Big Stone Gap, VA -- Country music great Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives headline this year's Gathering in the Gap Music Festival, held May 26 at the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park in Big Stone Gap.

The Gate City-based 1032nd Transportation Company, 1030th Transportation Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group, has been awarded the Eisenhower Trophy and Superior Unit Award and recognized as the most outstanding company-level unit in the Virginia Army National Guard during the 2011 training year.
