Nov. 17, 2009 3:04 p.m. Big Bend-Vernon Fire Chief Phil Buchholtz, under fire in recent months, will retire from the department effective May 1. Buchholtz had been involved in closed meetings with the Big Bend-Vernon Fire Board concerning job performance.
