Police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the Beverly Depot commuter rail station this afternoon shortly after 5 for a report of a woman struck by a train.

An electrical problem with either the dishwasher or the mechanical soap dispenser caused a small fire at the Beverly Depot restaurant yesterday morning, Deputy fire Chief Paul Cotter said.

Bookmobile librarian Linda Caravaggio has been reading since she was young. "I've read books all my life," she said.

The Beverly Rotary Club held its "Mystery Dinner" on Oct. 7. Twenty-five North Shore restaurants each agreed to donate 10 dinners for a total of 250 people who met at the Danversport Yacht Club to say hello to old friends and then be whisked away by limousine to their mystery destination.
