SWEPCO Project May Run Through Ozark Tourism

The proposed 48-mile Southwestern Electric Power Co. power-line to run next to Beaver Lake, through the Ozark mountains and to a new power station close to Berryville is being opposed by local landowners, cities and businesses for its potentially devastating affects to tourism and the Ozarks.

SWEPCO power line proposal draws fire

Folks in Benton and Carroll Counties are upset by a proposal by SWEPCO to build a 48-mile 345 kV power line from a plant under construction, the Shipe Road Station near Centerton, to the utility's proposed Kings River Plant northwest of Berryville.
