An apparent murder and attempted suicide shocked the rural village of Waller near Benton in Columbia County yesterday morning.

State police have released the names of the two people involved in a deadly shooting in Columbia County.

A Columbia County woman is in prison this morning on charges she physically and sexually abused kids in her care.

It was later plugged after officials determined it was not economically viable. The state's Public Utility Commission, which is charged with collecting and distributing the fee, said its interpretation of the law allows the state to levy a fee on Lackawanna County's two exploratory Marcellus Shale wells, at least for one year.
