He's starving on Ensure, but not through a tube. That was too uncomfortable, So he calls the Ensure his medicine and that's okay to take from the beast!

What a way to live!

If he indeed has no grounds for an appeal, the supreme court will deny his writ anyway.

It is now day 47 of his so called Fast according to the Strong City website. And yet as Pepper mentions he has been taking Ensure for medicinal purposes which is obviously keeping him alive quite nicely.

Is this still a Fast?

If the Fast is actually based on a hope for good news on Appeal it would seem things are not looking too good.

At some point Wayne and his people might have to begin accepting life the way it will be, with Wayne their spiritual leader behind bars for seven or eight more years.

Bent had a fair trial and the jury heard everything - the verdict and sentence were just. The jury struggled over it, in fact. Bent and his followers needs to accept his fate as fair and learn from his mistakes.

He's still breathing ?

Figured by now the pervert would be dead and thrown to the hogs as food.

What is it going to take to silence this pervert?

He wants an appeal? I'm sure that his fellow inmates must find his rectal canal appealing.

I sure hope so considering that is the only thing that probably functions on him anyway...

He molested a minor because he thought he could hide behind he religion. He might not have actually thought that when he was doing it, but that is what he did. I don't need to know anymore. He should stay in jail.

As far as his "fasting", he stopped fasting when he started to take Ensure.

KOB, stop running news on this guy, he is NOT newsworthy anymore!

I don't like what he did, and IIRC there is not disagreement about what he did. And I do think he deserved punishment.

But I'm not sure he got a fair trial or sentence.

Was the trial unfair? Maybe. i'd never heard of another case where there was a due date by which time it had to be over. If I understand correctly, the Judge was going to retire, so he said it all had to be over by a certain time, before his retirement party. That does not sound fair, and may have affected Bent's lawyer's performance and some other things.

It's very bad to railroad convictions. But it may be the State Supreme Court will say it wasn't fair, but it did not make any difference in the outcome, or a difference cannot be proved, or wasn't proven.

And in the trial the judge did not allow the presentation of a religious defense. I am gritting my teeth, but I do think that should have been allowed.

Was the sentence unfair? If I recall correctly, the charges were lewd conduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The "delinquency" was that the girl lay naked next to him in what she sincerely believed was a religious healing ceremony. She had parental PERMISSION. Though later one parent said he didn't know they would be naked, I think. He touched her clavicle, possibly accidentally(?) brushed her upper breast. There was no overt sexual behavior, no sexual penetration. She felt healed of her "sins".(This sect is peaceful and I think gullible, naive and not wordly. She does not sound like a juvenile delinquent as we typically use the term.) But he was sentenced to 18 years, 8 suspended. Another case at the about the same time, of statuatory RAPE--- resulted in a sentence of 10 months, maybe to be served on house arrest? Not positive about the house arrest part.

So by comparison, doesn't seem a fair sentence to me. But life's not fair, and obviously the court wanted to send a message about these "religious" "healing" "rites" to keep dirty old men with $20 mail order ministry degrees
from preying on kids, and adding penetration to the "sacrament."

But Bent won't be in jail the full ten years. Even if he loses the appeal, with the good time policy, he'll be out in a little over five years from the date he went in. If he doesn't decide to hunger strike himself to death. I think he'll get used to Ensure---he claims the prison food is not good enough, too. So I bet he lives the next 4-plus years on Ensure supplied by the State in his hunger fast due to this "injustice". Well, I do think he deserved punishment.
And I don't feel fooled by him, but I think based on this info, if correct, the sentence was too long.

If the State Supreme Court does not grant the Appeal, I bet Bent goes to the Federal Appeals Court, I bet he'll drink Ensure all the way to the US Supreme Court if his followers are willing to keep paying legal fees.

How do you define molestation?

In this case, NOBODY cried rape. Not the prosecutors or Judge, I'm pretty sure, and definitely not the parents and the girl. If what I described is really what happened, though I can't be positive, then are you sure the sentence is fair compared to the average sentences given out when a minor has consensual sex and the older person is prosecuted? I'm thinking Bent should have gotten about three years. And if he was allowed house arrest, probably I wouldn't squawk too much, he's fairly old and there was no penetration and the girl and the parents didn't see it as a sexual act.

In my post #14 I wrote lewd contact and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. No, it is two counts of criminal sexual contact and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

I just read the April 16, 2009 Alibi article.

http://alibi.com/index.php...

I wasn't too far off, but in the attached blog, there is more info. I read part and then became too tired to finish the blog comments, but it sounds like there may have been some fondling going on with at least one of the 7 girls, but no penetration.

And Bent did have sex with some older women for the purpose of "healing" as I understand it.

On one hand it sounds like he was tried in part for his religious beliefs---yet it sounds like it wouldn't be too hard to prove the beliefs were bogus. But I dunno.

I thought the section titles of the Alibi article were creative, given the religious "bent".

Roman Polanski drugged and anally raped a 13 year old girl. Polanski's wife, Sharon Tate was murdered before she bore Polanski's baby. Scores of prominent people in the movie industry assert Polanski should be pardoned. Many priests did no time for known actual penetration rape of boys. Bent supposedly was laying with sexually abused girls to show them gentleness and caring to "desensitize" them from fear of sexual violence from men. There is no evidence that he had sex with them. Then we come to Albuquerque where teenage girls were drugged downtown. One died and her body was thrown outside. No one who rapped those scores of drugged drunk minors went to jail. We all want to hammer Bent as a pack. This post is mob mentality. What he did is wrong and he really did use religion to carve out a fiefdom. Worse is done daily all over New Mexico without penalty. We are all hypocrites, bully's, and intellectually dishonest. Myself included. There should be equal treatment under the law. Bent got far more justice than he deserved and more than far worse violent offenders ever get, except from a father or brother.

What I read was that only one of the girls had been previously molested. But she does think the experience with Bent has helped her.

I'm sorry, but I am confused by your last sentence, given your next-to-last sentence. But I need my coffee.

You mean like maybe Bent REALLY IS the Son of God? And that he was carrying out some legitimate religious ritual instead of MOLESTING a naked underaged girl? It makes me sick that anyone could defend such a vile pervert like Bent who used his influence as a self-proclaimed messiah to control and manipulate people for his own sexual pleasure. Bent got exactly what he deserved.

Has the thought entered your mind that you might be wrong? If you are a Christian then this guy represents to be a messiah and do you actually believe that God put him here to represent him and to molest the young girls like he did. I have always tried very hard not to judge or question people who claim to be Gods servants from the pulpit. But even i have listened to and watched this guy and he is a fake if there was ever a fake. he is a pervert who likes to control the flock with things that come from supposedly God but the question for this guy is which God does he represent or serve. One of the most common sense points of raising a family is teaching how to love and live in peace so he does not bring anything of super knowledge in that respect. He was given a fair trial and he was found guilty of molesting the girls, he is a pervert who uses God as the one who gives him permission to share his love freely with these young girls and women. A true Christian knows one thing if nothing else that there is God the Father Almighty and that for satanist they also have a god whom is called satan. so people may appear mean but most are also tired of those who use Gods name to justify their actions which a normal reasoning human being could see that something is not right, right?

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Sagittarius

After all the excitement of the past few days you're longing for the chance to put your feet up and take life easy for a while. Ideally, you should bury your nose in a good book and be left alone until you resurface for a food transfusion. But you'll also enjoy chatting to someone you know very well and for whom you don't have to make a big effort, such as a close relative.
