Bend police detective justified in fatal shooting

Doesn't it seem funny that Cops are always justified for taking someones life!

Yeah, this whole blue wall thing is pretty ridiculous. I'm almost 31 years old and I can't think of a single time I've heard of a police department saying that the officer wasn't justified in what he was doing.

It's a tough call to make, you wold have to be there to really understand the situation. I feel bad for the cop who now has to live his life knowing that he took a life, I don't believe any officers want to take a life. I hope that the incident is investigated as every shooting incident should be.

Yeah, it seems they are always justified like chasing down a 17 year old that they new was on meth and cornering him with at least four different police agencies, helicopters, swat teams etc, all the while he was pleading to talk to his girlfriend which they never allowed to happen, this was overheard on the police scanner and reported bye z21 news but when you ask the detectives who were there they say they never new that and why did they wait until the next day to contact his father when this all began at 9:15pm and ended at 12:50pm how is it justice when he was only 17 and ended up dead.

I think we're not seeing this from the police point of view, they put have families and want to go home to see there wives and children just like anyone else, if I was in the same situation and felt my life was in danger because a suspect was not cooperating I would do the same. The cops enforce the laws and while it's sometimes at they risk their lives doing it I don't think they should lose their lives enforcing the laws. It's easy to criticize the cops after everything is done but you don't know what you would have done in that same situation.

That is because corrupt cops 'police' other corrupt cops. They are always getting away with breaking the law as they will not turn each other in.

Cops have a cushy job which is why the old doughnut joke resonates...it is true.

If they do not like their job or are afraid of their job then they should get a real job doing something like, say, accounting.

The parents of Lukus “Luke” Glenn have filed a letter of intent to sue Washington County, the city of Tigard and the three police officers involved in the shooting death of their 18-year-old son in the early morning hours of Sept. 16.....

Police said when they ordered Luke to drop the knife he refused. The Tigard officer fired six beanbag rounds from a shotgun in an attempt to subdue Luke. But police said when that failed, Luke began moving toward the front door of the house. At that point the two deputies opened fire on Luke, hitting him with eight of the 11 rounds fired.

In the letter, Peterson claims the situation was not properly handled. He says the deputies and officer involved in the encounter were not properly trained in crisis intervention and used excessive force in dealing with Luke. He also points out that the Tigard officer had a Taser, but did not use it in trying to subdue Luke.

The letter claims the Glenns were subjected to “multiple interviews” in the hours after the shooting without having an attorney present, while the officers were conducted two days after the incident with an attorney present.

Following an internal investigation of the incident, Washington County Chief Deputy District Attorney Robert Blesko said in October,“The shooting of Mr. Glenn, while tragic, was legally justified.”

So, this cop, with a bullet-proof vest on, in fear of his life, had to shoot an unarmed man 11 (ELEVEN!!) times!?!?! Seriously? Wow.

Being a police officer is more than just a job for many it's a career path. If the cop had to shoot him once, eleven or twenty-two times it doesn't matter, alot of you would still be criticizing the police, in the end a drug dealer that might sell drugs to your kids or my kids is off the streets for good. I'd like to see how many of you would shoot if you thought someone was about to shoot you.
