A benefit to raise funds for the family of Wendy Dean, a mother of five from Benchley who died in a car accident in August, will be held Saturday.

This week, while most parents are struggling to adjust to their child's school and practice schedules, Shannon Dean of Benchley is dealing with the reality of being a single father.

Wendy Dean, 40, of Benchley was killed Sunday when her vehicle veered off the roadway on N. Earl Rudder Freeway near Texas 21.

According to investigators, the driver of the vehicle, Wendy Dean, 40, of Benchley, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Thunderstorms rolled into the Brazos Valley early Wednesday morning. The word out of Grimes County from officials is that the rain obviously helps the situation, however it has not put out the ongoing fire and efforts are still being made.
