Belmar race centers on taxes, incumbent record

The race for the borough's one open council seat has incumbent Matthew Doherty campaigning that he's proud to run on his record of three years and being challenged by James Bean, the newcomer who says he jumped in after being fed up with government on all levels and after three years of local tax increases and stalled downtown redevelopment.
