THE ABANDONED HEART

Think about this the next time you start to "set out" a puppy or kittens, and don't do it!!

I left nose smears on your window

And hair upon your chair

And yes, a spot upon your carpet

But I didn't think you'd really care

Because you said you loved me,

I was your Baby and oh so smart!

But that was just a story

You weren't speaking from your heart.

Today you said "Come on, my little Baby

We're going for a ride."

I was wiggly-happy when you told me.

I sat so proudly by your side

Then you drove out in the country

It seemed so very, very far

Then pulling to the roadside

You suddenly stopped the car.

"Here's where you get out, Baby.

I don't want you anymore".

And reaching over opened

And pushed me through the door.

I tried my best to follow

But in a moment you were gone

When I stopped, so tired and thirsty,

I was lost and all alone.

I gave you true devotion

Someday you're going to find

Just how much love you threw away

And that it's the dearest kind.

When you say your prayers tonight

Ask forgiveness for a lie

And for killing someone who loved you

You left me here to die.

Just something I wanted to share with you. I hope it touches your hearts the way it touched mine. Please remember to spay or neuter your pets. One person CAN make a difference in the life of a stray. You just have to put forth the effort.

CHILDREN LEARN BY WHAT THEY SEE, NOT WHAT THEY ARE TOLD

Lately, I have seen so many topics dealing with very personal and damaging information on individuals and their families. I like to think, as a parent, that most of these "posts" are coming from juveniles, but I'm realizing that this is not the case.

I will be the first to agree that we do and should have freedom of speech. By no means am I suggesting otherwise. I am suggesting, however, that the ADULTS that are posting on here should think about what they are saying because there have been so many innocent children get on here and see hurtful and demeaning comments about their parents. I agree that it is a parents responsibility to monitor what their children are doing while on the internet, but as a parent myself, I also know that it isn't always possible.

This website shouldn't be a worry for any parent and if everyone that posts on here would just "think" about what you are saying about some childs' parent or other family member BEFORE you post, then so many innocent children wouldn't be getting hurt.

EVERYONE, please put yourself in a childs mind when you are posting such negative, degrading comments. Remember, it could very well be YOUR child that reads these posts about YOU.

Parents and all adults need to set a positive example for children no matter what the situation. Remember, children learn by what they see, not what they are told.

Please help me in making this site a family oriented, community site with insightful, useful topics about our town and it's citizens.

Please email me with legitimate concerns and I will respond accordingly.

BEATTYVILLE EDITORS' INTENTIONS AND VIEWS

I have an interest in the way we, citizens of Lee County, are portrayed and I have to tell you, it's seldom in a positive light. I agree that there are times that this site provides me with a good laugh or two but for the most part, it's demeaning and embarassing to see how low some of my fellow Lee Countians can stoop.

In becoming editor for this site, I hope to change that. I may not succeed but I certainly won't get anywhere by not trying. Personally, I believe we live in a wonderful little town. I know our town has its problems, what town doesn't? I also know that compared to the rest of the world right now, we should be thankful each and every day for what we DO have here in Lee County instead of continuously trying to destroy it by showing ignorance, selfishness, and assinine behavior on a site that anyone, anywhere, can click on and see.

How can we, as Lee Countians, ever expect to step out of the shadow and ridicule of past mistakes that others here have made, and continue to make, if we don't put forth an effort, one at a time, to make a change? I personally don't plan to live elsewhere and I refuse to be ashamed to tell anyone that might ask, where I am from. So, if by editing this site makes a positive difference in even one outsiders mind about our town, then I am satisfied. Not EVERYONE in Lee County is a drug dealer or user and not EVERYONE in Lee County is a crook, thief, or "check drawer" and I intend to do my part to let those who see this site, know that. I can only apologize for those who insist on continuing to add "fuel to the flame" of ugly misconceptions of Lee County and our citizens.
