Central Michigan University, the state's leading authorizer of charter schools, is renaming its Center for Charter Schools after the man credited with bringing public school choice to Michigan - former Gov.

Olivet College announced Monday it has hired Saginaw Valley State University assistant men's basketball coach Chris Coles as its new men's basketball head coach .

Manton's boys hung tough but dropped a 48-34 decision to Beal City in a Highland Conference contest Wednesday night.

"Being raised in a rural area has given me the opportunity to interact with nature at a very personal level," she said, recalling her time growing up surrounded by gardens and farmland in central Michigan, with many of her formative years spent in Beal City, just northwest of Mount Pleasant.
