A yo-yo and juggling performer will be in St. Mary Parish this week as part of the parish library system's summer family entertainment program.

Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrests this morning: Destiny Charonnel Darby, 17, of Easy Street, Franklin, was arrested Saturday at 2:23 a.m. on a charge of underage possession of tobacco.

Parish officials were briefed on a study and tentative proposals regarding the I-49 South extension made by the Department of Transportation and Development Thursday evening at the Patterson Area Civic Center.

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, during the last 72 hour reporting period the Sheriff's Office responded to 149 complaints and reports the following arrests: Toby James Adams, 35, 903 Anderson Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on June 14, 2013 at 3:45 pm on a warrant for violation of a protective order.

Lunch prices will increase by 10 cents for St. Mary Parish students who pay full price.

Two men were arrested at Solar Apartments in Morgan City after one of the men alleged that the other man attempted to strike him with a hammer, according to Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch.

St. Mary Parish Mark Hebert reported the following arrests this morning: Leon Saucier, 51, of 113 Point Lane, Cypremort Point, was arrested Thursday at 8:51 a.m. on a warrant charging him with theft.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests: -Shundren Johnson, 17, of Cherry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:03 p.m. Tuesday for criminal trespass and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.

The bad news for Bayou Vista residents is that a rain deluge such as reportedly occurred Sunday will inevitably lead to flooded streets and possibly houses, according to drainage district officials.

A 21-year-old Bayou Vista man, who was charged with first-degree murder in April, was arrested Tuesday after a St. Mary Parish Sheriff's detective learned that the man twice had sex with a 16-year-old girl, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert.
