The Jackson-Madison County School Board will begin its two-day retreat at 6 p.m. this evening at the Board of Education, 310 North Parkway.

Mr. Hall was born on Sept. 26, 1943, in Cookeville to Herman and Wiladean Hall. He worked as a truck driver for 40 years, currently employed with News Transport Inc.

Those hoping to gain a seat in August elections are picking up nominating petitions and qualifying for their respective races.

Every year the Pink Ribbon of Hope Gala, an annual event with the proceeds to benefit the CRMC Foundation, asks businesses and individuals to donate several items to their live and silent auction to raise funds to provide mammograms and additional healthcare to women in the Upper Cumberland who are uninsured or underinsured.

The Baxter Fire Department wants to remind citizens that they can receive free smoke detectors by contacting the office at 931-858-2621 or Chief Chris Holmes at 931-319-0123. For those who need it, installation of the smoke detectors is also available free of charge.
