Writer of 'Mr. Clean' jingle passes from pneumonia

Who: Thomas S. Cadden, 83, of Glenview, Ill., retired advertising executive and author of the 'Mr. Clean' jingle.
When and how he died: Friday of complications from pneumonia.
A basement recording studio: Cadden's basement was stuffed full of tapes -- old reel-to-reel numbers at first, then cassettes as technology changed. That basement held his beloved piano and a perch from which he strung together his songs.
'He would just sit down at the piano and pluck away and come up with words,' said son Tim Cadden of Overland Park. 'He probably wrote over 300 to 400 songs in his career, and he sold quite a few of them.' Read more
