*Matthew Taylor, director of dietary services for Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, was named one of the top 10 in the nation in the health care food service field, according to Premier Inc. of Charlotte, N.C., a health care management company. Taylor was the only finalist from New York state for the Premier Illuminating Excellence Award, which recognizes accomplishments and improvements in operations. He has been with the hospital since January 2007. *The Arc of Steuben recently honored the following employees: Patti Walczak of Bath was named Associate of the Month for June. A consumer resource coordinator, she was recognized for her dedication and for encouraging people to be more involved in the community. Pam Failing, Dody Putman, Beverly Dillon, Lisa Cordes and Barb Krisher, members of the Print Team, were named the Team of the Second Quarter for working quickly and efficiently. *Tammy Slayton of Hammondsport was named Arc Instructor of the Month in July by The Arc of Steuben. She is the agency's director of human resources, and has worked for the agency since 1996. *The Arc of Steuben Foundation has presented Dr. Robert E. Cole with the organization's Founders Award. According to a news release, Cole is one of five founding board members and held the office of board president for six years. He was instrumental in forming the policies, guidelines and intentions of the Arc foundation. Cole is being recognized for his long-term dedication and work for the Arc of Steuben Foundation and to people with disabilities, who benefit from the foundation's efforts. Cole is the medical director and surgeon for the Arnot Health Bariatric Surgery Program in Elmira. *The St. Joseph's Hospital board of directors recently approved Dr. Anthony Grippo's application to the Elmira hospital's medical staff: Grippo was appointed to the consulting staff in the Department of Medicine. He received his doctorate of medicine from the University of Debrecen in Debrecen, Hungary, and completed his residency at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J., and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Piscataway. Grippo received his master of public health degree from The Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.
