Bath hopes new fire truck will improve coverage
BATH-On Dec. 10, the Bath Fire Department took delivery of a 1979 Ford F700 pumper fire truck, rounding off their assemblage of one engine and two tankers. They paid just $2,500 for the vehicle which has a mere 5,000 miles on it.
It all began when friends Dennis MacKay, Bath's Fire Chief, and Peter Gemelli, retired Fire Chief from Wayland, MA, who was visiting at the time, were chatting and Mackay said he was looking for a pumper. MacKay said Gemelli told him that he would see what he could do and it wasn't much later that MacKay's friend called to see if Bath could afford $2,500. Read more

As temperature plunges, heating bills soar
“People who didn't need assistance before need it now”
WOODSVILLE-Winter is an expensive time of year and not just because of holiday shopping frenzies. Unaffordable fuel and electric bills have residents keeping their thermostats low because heating bills are high.
"Things are getting harder," said Tri-County Community Action Program (Tri-County CAP) manager Dan McGregor in an interview from Woodsville. "Your income may change or stay the same but the cost of everything else like rent and cost of living go up."
The Woodsville branch of Tri-County CAP provides fuel assistance and access to a food pantry for residents in the towns of Bath, Haverhill, Orford, Warren, Benton, Wentworth, Monroe, Lisbon, Landaff and North Woodstock. Read more
