Barton Springs projects could get money today The Austin City Council today will consider adding $98,000 to an existing contract with Pickett, Kelm, and Associates to evaluate and design repairs to the Barton Springs Pool bypass, a tunnel that shunts excess dirty water from Barton Creek away from the pool during heavy rains.

So the State Preservation Board is promoting a two-story addition on the north side of the Governor's Mansion that will cost about $1.2 million, huh? The mansion is being redone after arson ravaged it in June 2008.

A two-story addition should be built to the north of the arson-gutted Texas Governor's Mansion to make the home "more livable" for the state's first families and add much-needed space, according to new details of the showcase project revealed Thursday.
