$170,000 A YEAR... She makes that much money and teachers are losing their jobs in the district. Are you kidding me?!?!?!

Kingdom building. What happens here is one or more "assistant" superintendents are hired who do the actual administrative work while the Superintendent of Oz runs around to meetings, makes policy pronouncements, increased driving and phone expenses...no thanks. Sounds like she does not want to give NMRSD her full effort and wants to go back to Quabbin school district where she worked before. Let her go.

Save money at NMRSD by staff streamlining (NMRSD does has both a superintendent and assistant superintendent...why?) and salary cuts.

But it all depends on the NMRSD School Committee taking charge and not rubber stamping Dr. Marshall's pronouncements.

OK $85,000 a year for a part time job? Sounds like a deal to me..... and with the difficult times we are under, we need a strong leader, not a part time leader. What a mess.

This is why the taxpayers are so frustated with the school budgets, they keep wanting more and more, and when the voters cannot afford to pay anymore, they starting laying off teachers and cutting the pay of lower level employees to show how much they are trying to cut their budget.

i agree,$85,000 plus all the perks, vehicle ects, is pretty good for a part time job.

What it really shows though, is that it is a part time job, and why we are keeping it full time is beyond sound budget management

Why has the school committee been denying any of this is true since the story broke in the Worcester Telegram and now the superintendent confirms the whole thing. Who's running this system? Salary isn't the only thing in her contract.
She's already an absentee superintendent. Anyone EVER seen her at a single play, concert, etc? Tried to call the White House and get her? What's it going to be like when she's superintendent in her old home town district? She can tell them she's here, and us she's there. Pretty sweet...for her.

Clearly there are some behind closed door politics taking place, only the story leaked out and now they are back-pedaling. This is why the school budget cannot be trusted, there are new positions with high salaries still being hired, while others are being asked to take pay cuts to fund them. the towns are struggling, yet the school system thrives for the selected few

North Middlesex Regional should then cut the assist super's job into part time as well as the secretary's jobs as well.
As a resident in one of the towns in the district, as well as having children in the school system, why did we have to pay her full time salary this year when it could be a part time job?
I agree with Management 101 - let her go.

This is not cost savings but a greedy super, she should return to Quabbin full time and North Middlesex should hire a super with a realistic pay for the times we are in financially

Realistic pay? Would that mean a competitive salary? Average?

Do you know what superintendents' salaries look like? Do your homework.

To save money, eliminate the 2 new positions added in central office two years ago.
If the supt thinks she can do this job part time she is mistaken. Go hire someone who will do it full time.

Please don't let these be one of those issues where no one calls the school committee members to let them know how the constituency feels. This is beyond ridiculous and shouldn't even be considered.
You don't make a decision about something this important with only one meeting to have discussion and then vote on it.
Please make your feelings know by writing or by phone before the 6/29 meeting. They're all in the book. You elected the members and they need to hear from you. This is too important to just sit back and let happen.

The savings isn't going to teachers or class size. It is being put into a new program called International Baccalaureate. It seems our District now needs to be an International District....with a part-time Super.
