Another Struggle for Family Devastated by Barneveld Tornado
A local family, devastated by the disaster of the Barneveld tornado 25 years ago, is dealing with another life-threatening situation.
Location: County Rd. T 1,000 Ft. E. of County Rd H, Town of Arena. A 1996 Harley Davidson driven by Julia M. Klauer age 44 of Madison, was westbound on County Road T when Klauer crossed the center line of County Rd T while negotiating a curve and struck an oncoming eastbound 2006 GMC pick up driven by Daniel A. Kruser age 47 of Barneveld head on.
Llewellyn Gilbert Hurlbert, age 72, of Northfield, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at his home in the Northfield Manor.

Monday Marks 25 Years Since Wisconsin's Deadliest Tornado
Twenty-five years ago Monday, Wisconsin experienced its deadliest tornado ever. On June 8, 1984, a tornado rated F-5, with winds of more than 300 miles per hour, ripped through Barneveld, west of Madison.

The morning of June 8, 1984, proved what many believed about the village of Barneveld was a myth.
He is the son of Peter Ruggles and Janice Devine-Ruggles. The Marshfield Noon Rotary Club observed its 80th anniversary with a dinner program at RiverEdge on Monday night.
