You're never too old, or too young, to shoot for the stars. That's the thrust of the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute, a not-for-profit public foundation nestled in the Pisgah National Forest of Western North Carolina.

Last Modified: Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 2:14 p.m. A 27-year-old Indiana man died after falling off a waterfall in the Glen Cannon community in the town of Pisgah Forest, according to Brian Kreigsman, assistant chief of the Brevard Rescue Squad, and another person was injured after falling at Courthouse Falls in Balsam Grove.

Grace Leigh Finger Woody, age 91, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Haywood Lodge and Retirement.
