The bicentennial of the War of 1812 appears to be passing without any lavish public notice, though that conflict established the fledgling American nation as a major power in the western world and was the scene of the battle commemorated in our national anthem.

At the John Edwards place the entire family was at home, when four people and a baby from Balaton stopped to seek shelter.

This following series is reprinted from the 2010 issue of the Lyon Tale, written by me, and offered to the public as historic information as we head into another "tornado season" in southwestern Minnesota.
