The new prison reporting date for Mingo Commissioner David Baisden is after the primary election in May. There is no way I think legendary District Court Judge John T. Copenhaver Jr would make a political decision on the bench, so I don't join those who suspect something amiss.

Officers make arrests on various charges

The following defendants were arrested in Mingo County over the past week. Their names and the charges they face are as follows: Lannie Dow Ooten, 50, of Delbarton, was arrested by Mingo County Sheriff's Department Deputy L. Thomas on charges of DUI, after allegedly producing results of .245 during a breath intoximeter test.

Mingo County Prosecuting Attorney Teresa Maynard has released the names of six defendants, along with a list of their charges, who recently entered felony guilty pleas in Mingo County Circuit Court.

Tire recycle drop-off points scheduled for Mingo County

The Mingo County Commission, along with the Judge's Work Program and the Mingo County Solid Waste Authority, will be sponsoring a "Tire Recycle Pick-Up Program" that will allow for proper disposal and recycling of these items that are, more often than not, found thrown over hillsides and in creeks.
