As the owner of a pit, I can tell you, IF she shows signs of aggression towards dogs, cats,or people she will be put to sleep that day, zero tolerance on aggression. It would hurt me to do this because she is a much loved family pet, but she will be put to sleep. It is my responsibility to keep her in check, in her fence, and keep her well socialized. My neighbors do not need to be afraid of her, because I take care of her. She in inside with us, not isolated in a small yard away from her people. Dogs don't do well separated from their people, and they never do well running loose in a neighborhood, where their boundaries are confused.I understand why those 2 dogs were shot and hopefully the people who owned them learned a valuable lesson about dogs.

I totaly agree that the owner of the pits was in the wrong for not containing his dogs. Just wanted to say that up front. HOWEVER... you will never convince me the shooting was justified. The news showed footage of the Chi's the day after the supposed attack, and they were both running around playing in their yard! Yes, they could have had some minor cuts/scrapes that did not show in TV, but lets get real people! If ONE of the pitbulls ment to harm a dog the size of a Chi, it would be dead before anyone could do anything about it! Much less both of them! These dogs were shot because they were out of their yard, and they were pitbulls! If it had been any other breed, the dogs would have been taken to the pound, and the owner fined. If the city is going to shoot loose animals than they sould be upfront about that policy, and it sould be for ANY loose dog, not just pitbulls! If they were my dogs, I'd be finding a good lawyer!

I hope for the sake of your dog that it is not a real APBT! If you are not capeable of dealing with dog agression (which btw is compleatly different than Human Aggression) you have no business owning an APBT! You are setting your dog up to fail, and I feel sorry for you!

I feel equaly sorry for you, my dog is very well socialized, goes on regular walks, is very well mannered and is very loved, that said, agression is unaceptable in any form, and since I don't have access to Cesar Milan to help me IF I need it, putting her to sleep is my only option if she should become a threat to anyone, human or dog. It's only responsible to see to it that she NEVER comes to that. She has been a wonderful dog for the 5 years of her life and don't forsee any change in her temperment. Calm down, since I am a good pit bull owner who only thinks of what's best for her.
