hmmm...From the article:
Alderman Rick Lawrence, 4th Ward, expressed concerns about one provision, which demands that if the city begins erecting cameras to prevent criminal activity, that at least one of those cameras be installed at the Planned Parenthood facility. Even though this was a provision the protesters asked for, Lawrence said it could lead to government intrusion and the erosion of privacy rights.

But Peter Breen of the Thomas More Society, which represents the protesters, said the cameras, if installed, would be there to catch violence (or threats of violence) against demonstrators.

me: If the TMS is in favor of cameras, then I'm willing to bet the freaks want to use any images captured to further harass, stalk, and intimidate clients & staff. The alderman's objections appear reasonable.

Personally, I'm in favor of the cameras. I hope they make public the stalking behavior of the protesters.

Oh, I understand that completely, and I agree. Do you know if there are any provisions to protect the privacy of clients and staff, or if the cameras would not be trained on clinic access points, just on the protestor's area? I guess I'm just not clear on the geography.

Yep.

You know darn well it's just another form of intimidation.

As long as the patient's right to privacy is not violated, I agree.

Regarding the security cameras, I don't know. However, there is no privacy for the clients and staff (this is the clinic where I've done some volunteer work). These A-holes photograph both and put those photos up on their website (along w/photos of cars and license plates). There simply isn't any privacy at all.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Sagittarius

The rumour mill is especially active, and interesting tales are coming at you from all sides. Don't believe everything you hear: there are people who will start gossip to further their own aims and you don't want to help them unwittingly. Similarly, don't reveal too much of yourself to those who you don't know intimately - keep your own counsel.
