Aurelia Jazz Band wins 1A competition
The Aurelia Jazz Band, which won first place honors at the 2007 Iowa Jazz Championships and were runner-up in 2008, had an "off year" last year as the group was in transition, following the departure of their director, Jason Heeren, to the Storm Lake High School Band Director post.
The Aurelia Community School District TK - 4th grade students and their teachers celebrated their 100th day of school this year on Monday, February 1. The date for the celebration "kept eluding" Principal Ann Sandine, in her words, as she was trying to plan the event, due to students missing a few days with the recent winter weather.

City Election votes canvassed; no changes The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors granted a funding request from the Cherokee County 4-H Council on Tuesday for the amount of $60,000.
