New charter school, Evergreen Academy, to open in Kalamazoo near YMCA

A new charter school, Evergreen Academy, is opening in September in Kalamazoo's Hillcrest neighborhood for grades K-6. The school will be located at 2121 Hudson Ave., a former office building that is being remodeled, said Allison Gumper, business manager for the Foundation for Behavioral Research in Augusta, which is operating the school.

The owl, unusual in these parts, had been hanging around the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport since before Christmas, but died there Monday.
