Auburn Blaze Forces Evacuations, Closes Hwy 49

My 86 year old mother resides at Colonial Health Care on Shale Ridge. What is the status of the facility? Are the residents being evacuated?

1 The fire, which started at the Harley Davidson dealership near bell road at Hwy 49, has burned several structures and business north of the intersection, as of 4pm 8/30/09 the fire was approximately 60 acres. |

Friends live on Florence Rd Auburn with wheelchair bound to the home. Are they in harms way, will this area be evaculated? thank you

My daugther and family live on Garnet Rd in Auburn and she works at the Colonial Health Care. Last I heard from her, she was at work and that was at 5PM. Why isn't this fire on any news stations in southern California?

relax, the sheriff and fire departments go door to door, evacuating when is neccessary.

No it is not near Lake of the pines that is quite a ways away from this area. |

I heard on the news that Colonial Health had not been evacuated and is not in danger at this time.

I have family in Lake of the Pines and the fire is not close to them.

It did not start at the Harley Davidson dealership. If you don't have first-hand information you should say so. Mis-information doesn't help anyone. |

My son is in the Calfornia Conservation Corp(CCC) there in the American River Canyon area, Anyone know if they were sent out to the Yosemite or the Auburn fire?

yes some of the CCC where at the auburn fire not sure about the ysemite one... the auburn fire is over 90% contained now. |

I live off of edgewood as well and no the fire was moving the other way about 5 miles down the road |

My cousin lives on Lorenson Road, north of Auburn off 49. Was this area burned? Can't locate cousin. Minnesota, where I am, doesn't get a lot of details.
