The plaintiff in a key landmark case that along with Roe v. Wade helped open the door to abortion on demand in 1973 said her pregnancy was used by the legal system without her permission.

The University of Georgia Real Estate Foundation will borrow about $40 million for two upcoming construction projects on the university's Athens campus, increasing the foundation's total debt to more than a third of a billion dollars.

Alanna Brooke Kieffer and Stuart Thomas Womack were united in marriage March 10, 2012 at 6 o’clock in the evening in the Bolton Chapel of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Alexandria. Officiating the ceremony was Dr. Calvin Phelps of Natchitoches, LA., childhood pastor of the bride. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis R. Kieffer of Wheeling, LA and the late Mrs. Kim Kieffer. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Pearl Kieffer of Wheeling and the late Mr. John Paul Kieffer, and Mr. and Mrs. James McBride of Goldonna, LA. The bride is a 2003 graduate of Winnfield Senior High School and a 2008 graduate of Northwestern State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is employed by Central Louisiana Surgical Hospital. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Terry A. Womack of Alexandria. He is the grandson of Mrs. William Dalton Womack of Shreveport, LA. and the late Mr. Womack, and the late Mr. and Mrs. W. Thomas Lee. The groom is a 2003 graduate of Holy Savior Menard Central High School and is employed by Roy O. Martin Lumber Company. Serving as maid of honor was Ms. Casey Sorrells of Pineville. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Autumn Miller of Moore, Oklahoma, Mrs. Janna Weaver, cousin of the bride, of Flower Mound, Texas, and Ms. Katie Kelley of Shreveport. The groom’s best man was Bart Wilson of Alexandria. Groomsmen were Philip Womack, brother of the groom, and Austin Mahfouz, both of Alexandria, and Brody Shores of Atlanta, Georgia. Brothers of the bride, Mr. Brent Carpenter and Mr. Zachary Kieffer of Winnfield, served as ushers. Mrs. Katie Wright, sister of the groom, and Ms. Sarah White, cousin of the bride, were readers. Ring bearers were Brenton Carpenter, nephew of the bride, and Gage Wright, nephew of the groom. Addyson Wright, niece of the groom, served as flower girl. Escorted and given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory strapless satin gown with a sweetheart neckline by Sottero and Midgley. The ruched bodice was adorned with pearls and crystals. She carried a bouquet of tulips, roses and peonies wrapped with tulle from her mother’s wedding veil. Tucked into the bouquet was a photo charm of the brides’ mother on her wedding day. The reception, hosted by the parents of the bride and groom, took place at Alexandria Golf and Country Club. Catering was provided by Red River Grill. Todd Harris, DJ Flex, played the couple’s favorite music. Andria Fontenot Photography captured every moment of the couples special day. After honeymooning at Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple will happily reside in Ball, Louisiana.
